Is the Gibson Faded SG Special really worth the money? Well I admit that I was skeptical when I saw the price. After much debating I dropped the 699 dollars for it. I must admit I was shocked with how good the guitar really is. It plays and sounds as good as any SG that I have played. The neck is super fast and feels great. It is a well balanced and very light guitar. After playing a strat for many years I couldn't believe how comfortable the SG was. As far as the tone goes I was blown away. I wasn't expecting that great of a tone from this guitar for 699 dollars. I figured that at the price it would have cheap electronics but this guitar sounds great. The only difference that I have found is the finish. This guitar doesn't have the fancy finish that most more expensive SG's have. The faded finish really looks cool. The neck has dot inlays instead of the mother of pearl trapezoid inlays but I would rather have a great sounding and playing guitar than one that looked nice.
I own an early 70's Gibson SG Standard that doesn't hold a candle to this one. The faded SG Special just feels much better. The guitar that I received really need setup. The setup was horrible but after some adjustments it was perfect. But you just can't buy a guitar from the factory that is setup properly. Overall this guitar is just perfect, you simply pay for an awesome guitar and not for a bunch of eye candy that doesn't help your playing. If you are looking for a deal on a high quality Gibson guitar, then I suggest you check out The Gibson Faded SG Special.

ELIXIR GUITAR STRINGS REVIEW
After trying a couple sets of Elixir Guitar Strings on my Stratocaster and my acoustic I must say that these are some great strings. You definitely won't find a set of strings that last as long as Elixir strings. The electric guitar strings have a really bright sound that stands out and lets every note ring clear. I also like the feel of the strings. The coating that they put on the strings to increase their life span doesn't affect their feel. When I first saw Elixir Guitar Strings I thought that they were a little pricey but now they cost the same as most other guitar strings. The only thing about these strings that I didn't like was the sound of the strings when you first put them on. They have a weird metallic sound at first. Luckily after you play them a little and break them in it goes away. Nothing major since a lot of guitar strings will sound like this at first.
The Elixir Acoustic Guitar Strings also give you the bright tone like the electric strings. These are probably the best acoustic strings that I have tried. I am very picky when it comes to acoustic guitar strings. My only problem with the acoustic strings are that I had to buy the light gauge strings to get the same feel as what I normally use. The strings just felt a little to fat for my taste. But like I said after switching to the light gauge acoustic strings the problem was solved. I tend to play my guitar strings until they break or just simply wear out. Luckily with the Elixir guitar strings they last long enough to save you money in the long run. Not to mention you don't have to replace them right after you get them broke in good like a lot of cheap guitar strings.

SEYMOUR DUNCAN SHR1 HOTRAIL GUITAR PICKUP

If you are in the market for a super hot humbucker in the body of a single coil pickup this is it. The Seymour Duncan Hot Rail is a split rail pickup that gives you a humbucker sound. I put one of these in the bridge position of my Fender Texas Special Stratocaster and all I can say is wow. I was a bit skeptical at first about it. I am not use to a humbucker looking like a single coil pickup. You get the right amount of bite with this pickup. A real creamy balanced distortion and awesome clean tones. This is my new favorite pickup for my stratocaster. I tried several of Seymour Duncans single coil pickups but none of them were as hot as the SHR-1 Hot Rail.
I would highly recommend this pickup to anyone. I have been unsatisfied with many pickups over the years but my Hot Rail Pickup is definitely my new favorite. I wired it up to my middle tone knob so that I could roll back the treble a little and dial in the sweet spot. I promise this pickup is well worth the money. After pushing my Hot Rail through my strat for the last year I am just as satisfied as I was when I bought it. Seymour Duncan really makes some wonderful guitar pickups and in my opinion this one is the best I have tried. See for yourself if you are looking for a great pickup for your guitar.
